This box is attributed to the unidentified decorator of a tall-case clock found in Farmington, Maine which is illustrated in Edwin A. Churchill, Simple Forms and Vivid Colors. Maine Painted Furniture, 1800-1850 (Augusta, ME: Maine State Museum, 1983), frontispiece and plate 17, pages 70-71.
